Stasik Talks Dallas Over a Manicure

This one speaks for itself.

Analog Sweetening

Hall of Fame recordings are getting some analog love today as the "show" begins to take shape. Thanks again for all of your input. As Brendan would say, "If you don't like it, it's your fault." Stay tuned for details coming shortly regarding the release.

Stubb's BBQ Contest Winners

You got your barbecue sauce and your chicken wings...

We want to congratulate the 10 winners of our Stubb's BBQ contest. All of these fine folks submitted killer recipes ranging from ribs to brisket, wings to bacon wrapped bacon. They'll be joining us tonight for a pre show BBQ and meet 'n greet at the Austin staple that is Stubb's. Hope to see you there!

Well I must say, I feel so proud knowing that we have some serious Q'ers for fans! I was so impressed with the submissions, it inspires me to step my game up. I hopefully see this as the start of more frequent style of meet and greet. I look forward to meeting all the winners and having some BBQ convo!

Thanks!

Jake Cinninger on Record Store Day

Jake takes a few minutes to talk about the value of vinyl and the independent record stores that carry it. Support your local music store, they're disappearing fast.

Groupee Bundle

So many of you likely now that for the last 48 hours we have been running a Groupee, a flash offering loaded with audio and video content. The concept is much like Groupon but Gropuees are geared towards music and entertainment fans who would prefer to download audio & video rather than receive 58% a pedicure at the neighborhood nail joint (but don't get us wrong, we love a good pedicure here at UM).

We tried to load up the bundle with a great mix of content that has a little something for everyone. Many of you obviously have Mantis but we wanted to give new fans or those fence sitting fans an opportunity to get their hands on it (and a lot more) at a great price. The acoustic show was a classic evening of relaxed UM and figured that would be a good addition for many of your collections. And the videos are not available for download elsewhere and we felt they rounded out the package nicely.  But many of you expressed the want (read: insatiable desire) for more new, unreleased content.

And because we give a shite, more new, unreleased content is what you get.

Digging into the archives this morning, we've pulled 3 tracks from the sound check of our Safety In Numbers release party for you die hards. Back in 2006, we had a few friends over at the Park West in Chicago as we launched the record. The band was  full of life, in great spirits and that made itself obvious even at sound check. The attached snippet is taste of the Jimmy Stewart from rehearsal but make sure to listen to the end on the full track as Joel & Brendan have a little fun with Rocker. It coincidentally harkens back to UMBowl II, must be something about the Park West.

To boot, Groupees is now donating 10% of the profits to the People's Music School, an incredible organization that provides music education to kids less fortunate than some. Please help us spread the word that this sale is only up for another 24 hours. Post the link on your facebook page, tweet it, email your friends etc. If we hit $10,000 we are going to give away yet another unreleased new original that is in the works. We can't do it without your help.

Jake Cinninger: Old Time Piano

Snagged this one during a few minutes of down time while recording at I.V. Lab Studios. It was time consuming to lug the vintage cameras on site but it was worth it.

UMBowl II: Audio & Video

What a night.

The 2nd annual UMBowl is in the books and we wanted to spread some content around for Monday morning quarterbacking. First up, we wanted to let you know that audio from UMBowl II is now available for download in more formats than ever, including Apple Lossless for very first time (all the quality, half the size, itunes compatible). We are also pleased to offer 24 bit flacs once again for you audio junkies out there.

Next up, 2 videos created specifically for the event by our own lighting & video guru Jefferson Waful. Highlighting our affinity for sports and music, this montage kicked off the night. Does Chariots of Fire ever cease to hype up a room?

Now, we know that none of you fans ever fake your enjoyment, but a parody on this iconic When Harry Met Sally scene was too good to pass up. If you haven't seen the original in a while, make sure to go back and give it a look. Stasik certainly did his Billy Crystal homework and a cameo by our original drummer Mike Mirro tied it all together. Enjoy.

"Um, bowl of what she's having"

Gearing up. Game on.
